Ever just wanted to get away from it all?
Take up that latest offer for a cheap flight and lie on a sunny beach? But do you come over cold when you add up the real cost of getting you there?
All is not what it seems in the land of advertised prices, special offers and great deals.
Making sure you get the best deal from your forklift servicing company can be a bit of a minefield too.
Next time you review your service agreement there are a few things you may want to consider.
To maintain your truck, the engineer has to get to your site, so it stands to reason that an invoice will include travel.
How is it calculated? Do you get charged from one job to another or from the engineers base to your site?
Some additional charges on your service invoice are expected - the ones for filters, oils, chain spray for example.
Environmental laws now regulate the disposal of oils and the filters and it is fair enough to pass the charge on to you as the customer - but not if you operate electric trucks!
If your engineer finds a problem that needs to be solved it might be worth finding out if he is on a bonus or commission on sales.
Engineers given incentives to sell parts tend to be the ones that find more problems to fix!
